Having completed the Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University, Roland undertook his training contract at a full-service law firm in Durham, qualifying in 2016. Roland initially worked within both the dispute resolution and employment teams, then moved to a large firm in Newcastle in 2018 to specialise in employment law.
Roland has extensive experience in all aspects of employment law. He is a pragmatic lawyer with a commercially-focused and practical approach. Roland prides himself on delivering practical advice tailored to the circumstances in a clear and concise way that clients can easily digest. Roland has been praised by clients for his knowledge, efficiency and expertise as well as for providing “patience and gentle guidance” together with showing “compassion and understanding”.
Roland joined Collingwood Legal in April 2024 as an Associate Solicitor and works across all aspects of the work we undertake.

Roland is an avid reader and enjoys going to crime literature festivals (particularly the annual event at Harrogate). Roland also enjoys following football, tennis, squash and darts. Roland is also a big Springsteen fan, and has seen the E Street Band more times than he likes to count!
