Jane is a Partner within the Collingwood Legal team. She has dedicated her professional career to specialising in employment law for 15 years.

Jane has been part of the team since the firm’s inception in 2010 and has played a key role in the growth of the firm. Jane’s strength rests in her natural ability to build strong and enduring relationships with her clients and in her determination and ability to take strong and decisive action in order to achieve the best result for her client.

During Jane’s career she has been recognised as a Rising Star and currently Next Generation Partner in the Legal 500 UK rankings.

Experience

Examples of Jane’s experience includes:

  • Providing prompt and practical advice to employer clients on a day-to-day basis on a broad range of HR and employment law issues.
  • Providing strategic, practical and tactical advice to employers in managing complex and potentially risky internal grievance, disciplinary and performance processes and helping manage and negotiate complex disability and associated sickness absence situations.
  • Assisting employers in having ‘protected conversations’ and/or ‘without prejudice’ discussions with employees in an effort to terminate employment including drafting settlement agreements.
  • Successfully bringing and defending employment tribunal claims.
  • Drafting reasonable and enforceable business protection clauses for employers including confidentiality and post termination restriction protection.
  • Advising employers on redundancy and restructure processes including the application of individual and collective consultation obligations.
  • Advising employers on threatened industrial action.
  • Advising senior executives often in high profile roles on the terms of mutually agreeable business exit negotiations.
  • Preparing and delivery training sessions to employer clients and assisting them in their management on all areas of employment law.

Noteworthy Cases

  • Successfully defended claim at a 7 day hearing – Claimant failed to demonstrate claims of unfair dismissal, breach of contract, unlawful deduction of wages, sexual orientation discrimination and harassment and disability discrimination and harassment.
  • Whistleblowing claim involving an application for interim relief – acted for the employer Respondent to undertake a significant amount of work prior to filing a ET3 defence in order to object to a Claimant’s application for interim relief which was successful at a public hearing resulting in the Claimant seeking a low value settlement which our client agreed to.

Outside of work

When Jane isn’t busy spending time with her three young children she loves running, yoga and more recently paddle boarding and kayaking! She also loves to sing, bake and spending time with her very large family including 6 siblings and 18 nieces and nephews!
